This whole... fulfilling our callings thing. The never-ending war between the angels and the demons - not that it's going on here anymore. Thank fucking god.

It's just... there's gotta be a way of existing that doesn't rip apart half the people who have to live it, right?

Hey, good news, though - Wallace appears to be doing better. Also, I think he has a crush on someone in the Conrad, 'cause he was there for a couple HOURS yesterday, said he'd gone to see Grace, but I totally saw Grace coming BACK just before we left.

Good for him! Wallace is a good kid. Deserves some light in his life... And now that you mentioned it, I think I saw 'em in the lobby yesterday. With this snip of a thing.. Brunette, glasses. Think she's a wanderer. Spittin' image of that one Fallen Angel we had in the Conrad for awhile.

That's putting it lightly. I went away for awhile. Learned there are a lot of people trying to change it. No one's been exactly successful yet.

Just some kid being at loose ends because she doesn't know what she's supposed to DO now that she's all with the wings and shit.

And... a lot of shit I've lived through the past year and change.

My cousin Georgia got killed in the attack on Torchwood, and I didn't even know about it until weeks after it happened. And she shot my friend, while trying to shoot his ward. It's all so fucked up. But we keep fucking living like this.

I don't think most of us know until it's too late. Not until we're struck with something happening to us that we never thought possible. There should be manuals, but they could never cover all the bases or reach all of the necessary people.

But the lovely FRANCINE came to town to check on me, and reported back that I'd told him and the family to go fuck themselves, and apparently my dad took issue with that, because as soon as they've cleaned up some bayou down south, he and whatever army he's got with him are going to come to town to try to drag me home.

I mean literal dragging here - Francis already shot me once trying to get me in his damn car.

And... come on, you know my family. You really think they're gonna give a shit about some stupid truce?

If it comes down to it, though, more backup won't be turned down. I know Vince'll have my back, plus a good chunk of the Gauche, demon and otherwise. And my wayward sparkly glam rocker fag cousin's here (that's Aaron, if you couldn't guess) and he thinks the family's gone off the deep end of the deep end, so...

I swear to god, if there is ONE MORE WAR where one side uses ME as an excuse to start fighting...

Yeah, that was sort of exactly my reaction. They're not fucking starting another war in my fucking city. They're not putting my friends and my home in any more danger than it is on a daily basis.

Part of the provisions of the Treaty established a fund, in point of fact, to research the nature of Angelic and Demonic Callings to see if anything could be done in controlling them. It's an ideal I hold close to heart. Unfortunately most of the top researchers in the field are somewhat loathe to relocate to Chicago.

Still. Perhaps we'll yet see an improvement in our lifetimes.
